TYLER — Kelly Swanson turned in a top-10 finish after Day 1 of the Tyler Junior College Fall Intercollegiate for the UHV women.

Swanson posted an opening round 83 and was tied for ninth, while the Jaguars were in sixth place with a team score of 367.

Ranger Community College holds the first-round lead with a 326, followed by Bethany College (Kan.) with a 334 and Murray State Community College at 340. Host Tyler JC is in fourth with a 344, and LeTourneau University is fifth with a 357.

Following Swanson for the Jaguars, Mary Kate Krueger posted a 92, Victoria Garcia a 94, Jocelyn Villafranca a 98 and Jo Ellen Canales a 104.

Murray State’s Kitana Hollins and Rian Moores hold the top two individual spots. Hollins shot a 74, while Moores shot a 75.

The final round tees off Tuesday morning.
