FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — The New England Patriots’ top first-round draft pick, offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn, tore his Achilles against the Eagles on Thursday night and will miss his entire rookie season.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report Wynn suffered the injury late in the first quarter and immediately went into the blue medical tent on the Patriots sideline. Shortly thereafter, Wynn was carted off the field and into the Patriots locker room.

The offseason acquisition of Trent Brown and the re-signing of LaAdrian Waddle helps bolster the Patriots offensive line despite not having Wynn during the upcoming 2018 season.

The veteran Waddle is now expected to be the starter at right tackle with Brown on the left side.

This is the second year in a row the Patriots have lost their top draft pick to a season-ending injury in August.

Derek Rivers missed his entire rookie year in 2017 with a torn ACL.
