UNCW Women’s Soccer releases 2018 slate

WILMINGTON, North Carolina (UNCWSports.com) – The UNCW women’s soccer team will face three teams that reached the NCAA Tournament a year ago as part of its 2018 regular season schedule, which was announced on Monday by Coach Chris Neal.

Neal, who embarks on his first season at the helm, and the Seahawks will also play eight home games as part of the 17-game regular season slate.


2018 UNCW Women’s Soccer Schedule


After opening the season with a visit to former Colonial Athletic Association rival VCU on Aug. 17, the Seahawks begin their home schedule by welcoming High Point to UNCW Soccer Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 19 for a 6 p.m. tilt.

UNCW travels to Virginia Tech and UNCG the following weekend before returning to the Port City to host the Courtyard by Marriott UNCW Soccer Invitational. The Seahawks face Kent State on Friday, Aug. 31 and Cleveland State on Sunday, Sept. 2.

The Seahawks make the short trek to Conway, S.C., for a non-conference contest against Coastal Carolina on Sept. 6 before returning home for their non-conference finale against East Carolina on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.

The start of CAA play comes on Thursday, Sept. 20 when Elon visits UNCW for a 7 p.m. tilt. After back-to-back road outings at Northeastern and William & Mary, UNCW returns home on Sept. 30 to entertain defending CAA champion Hofstra for a noon matinee.

UNCW opens the month of October with a two-game road swing at Drexel and James Madison before hosting Delaware on Sunday, Oct. 14.

A trip to the College of Charleston on Oct. 18 closes out the road portion of the regular season schedule before Towson provides the opposition during the Seahawks’ home finale on Oct. 21.

The CAA Tournament will once again feature a six-team field. The quarterfinals are slated for Friday, Oct. 26 followed by the semifinals on Sunday, Oct. 28. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 3.

In addition to the regular season schedule, the Seahawks will visit Campbell (Aug. 8) and Virginia (Aug. 13) for a pair of exhibition contests.
