A fellowship opportunity is currently available in the Policy Research, Analysis, and Development Office (PRADO), within the Office of the Associate Director for Policy & Strategy at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. PRADO’s mission is to conduct health policy work at CDC’s Atlanta locations, specifically in policy research and analysis and to develop evidence-based policy strategies. PRADO’s goal is also to build relationships and coordinate work across CDC and within the healthcare system, other government agencies, think tanks, policy consultancies, academic institutions, and other organizations.
The participant will train in policy analysis and evidence assessment, review, and translation activities in support of PRADO. He/she will support policy evidence assessment efforts by conducting literature reviews and policy analyses on relevant public health topics, generating new policy-relevant evidence, and developing scientific and translation products. The participant will be part of an office that focuses on policy related analyses and evidence assessments on health care and community-wide interventions at the federal, state, and local levels that can accelerate health improvement. Under the guidance of a mentor, the participant may be involved in the following opportunities:
This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment can be up to one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, GA, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits.
The qualified candidate should be currently pursuing a master's degree, or have received a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in public health, health policy, or relevant social sciences. Degree must have been received within five years of the appointment start date.
