Breggins Prioritize Free Speech Above Self-Interest in $25 Million Lawsuit by Robert Malone
I have been muzzled for the last two months. I have been instructed not to speak freely and not to speak my mind to friends, verbally or in writing, on the internet, in media, or in personal correspondence. I have been told to preserve all my papers, my emails, my letters, and records of phone calls, as well as all internet transactions. I have been instructed to await legal service — the action of being officially informed of this legal suit....
Dr. Robert W. Malone Demands Money, Apology and Retraction for Insulting Words...
After making his initial legal threat to the Breggins verbally on the phone, Dr. Malone's lawyer sent a Demand Letter on September 26, 2022 to the Breggins: "Dr. Malone demands that you retract the false and defamatory Statements, issue a written apology, and fairly and fully compensate him for the presumed and actual damages suffered, including loss of income, insult, pain, humiliation, embarrassment, mental suffering and injury to his reputation."
Our attorney sent a letter rejecting the demands on the grounds that the Breggins had said nothing defamatory. The formal legal lawsuit complaint was filed a month later on October 30, 2022. Both the demand letter and the complaint are very confusing because several of the alleged statements were not even made by Dr. Breggin but by people characterizing his work. This is apparent on a brief examination. Especially since Dr. Malone is a public figure, none of these remarks are defamatory but represent differing opinions on matters of public concern.
